Can't Beat Heart

Established by President Fallon Ferrell, the Josh Evans Foundation thrives with the dedication of the Evans family committee and Josh’s dearest friends. Together, we empower youth through mentorship and sports to honor Josh's legacy.

Josh’s Story

Josh Evans’ story is one of talent, determination, and heart. Growing up with a love for the game, he worked his way to the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he became a standout four-year starter.
In 1995, Josh signed with the Houston Oilers as an undrafted free agent, remaining with the franchise during its transition to the Tennessee Titans.

He cemented his legacy in the 1999 AFC Championship by recording a crucial safety to help secure a trip to Super Bowl XXXIV, where he appeared as a starter. Josh later spent three seasons with the New York Jets, concluding his NFL career as a highly regarded veteran leader.
Off the field, Josh was known for his big smile, generous spirit, and the way he encouraged others to keep pushing, no matter the odds. When he faced his own toughest opponent—kidney cancer—he met it with the same courage and resilience he had always shown. Josh passed away in February 2021 at the age of 48, leaving behind a powerful example of strength, faith, and love for his family and community.

The Josh Evans Foundation was created to carry that example forward. By supporting youth and families through mentorship, sports, and community programs, we honor Josh’s belief that every child deserves a team in their corner. “Josh’s Story” is not just about what he achieved on the field—it’s about the lives he continues to touch through the work of this foundation.
